Global & High Growth CEO Roundtable

Type of companies: Leading Technology companies based in Ontario
Roundtable Leader: Mike Dufton, Managing Director of Volaris Group
Revenue Size: $50M (exceptions may be made for companies that are over 150 employees, growing quickly and truly have global operations)
Meeting Details: This group meets quarterly for a half-day workshop followed by a private dinner in downtown Toronto restaurants.



Description: Membership in this special roundtable is by invitation only from the AceTech Ontario Board of Directors and is for the CEOs and Presidents of Ontario's Leading Technology companies who want to invest in themselves and are passionate about helping to build the Technology Ecosystem in Canada while growing their business. The members of this Roundtable will have the opportunity to learn and hear stories from their peers of large scale, fast growing technology companies while providing guidance and advice in return. This roundtable will also discuss how AceTech Ontario's members and affiliates can contribute to the growth of tech in the province. The list of discussion topics will be agreed upon between group members and will range from tactical, to strategic to thought provoking. Meeting agenda and materials will be distributed in advance giving members time to prepare. Each member will also be given the chance at each meeting to ask questions about what is currently relevant to them and their businesses.

This is a good roundtable to join if you like to learn from others, enjoy sharing your experiences and want to be invested in the businesses of your peers who are also building some of Canada's best Technology companies. Description: The B2B Software Roundtable focuses on Growth Strategy, M&A, Finance, HR/Management, International Expansion, Alliances and SaaS. These topics are sometimes prepared in advance and presented alongside roundtables discussions on key operating or strategic issues by attendees.

This is a good Roundtable to join if you develop and sell a business application for an industry vertical(s) or specific process. Product(s) you develop & implement drive 80%+ of your revenue. You have a management team in place (Sales, Marketing, Product, and Finance) and are selling today in North America and/or internationally (or planning too). You goal is to build a business with revenue targets north of $50M. Must be 40+ employees and an Independent Software Vendor.

Revenue Size: $1 million + (if converting to SaaS: $5M in traditional license driven revenue demonstrating SaaS growth of at least 100% annually with expectation to hit $1M in the next 12 months)

Description: The B2B SaaS Roundtable focuses on dealing with the issues surrounding cloud and subscription models, building B2B sales and channels, and raising financing for growing technology businesses. The group also discusses how to manage growth of a recurring revenue business, sales, people/process/systems and HR. At each meeting, 2 members of the roundtable have the opportunity to share while soliciting advice from the group. Periodically, case studies will be discussed or 3rd party speakers will be invited.

This is a good roundtable to join if you run a growing B2B SaaS company and want to engage with others in the space who are looking to help each other take their business to the next level. Description: The B2B High Growth Technology Roundtable focuses on the “issues of the day” and longer-term strategic topics ranging from financing strategy, board establishment and management, talent acquisition and management, international/channel development, sales and marketing models and metrics/compensation/tools, IP/R&D strategy, scaling people/process/policies and infrastructure, financial metrics and best-practices, and M&A. The Roundtable format rotates between members presenting business plans and key issues, ad-hoc discussions and top 2-3 issues of the day.

This is a good roundtable to join if you are ambitious, want to be surrounded by experience and talent, can listen and contribute comfortably in a high energy/octane group, and have a sense of humor.

Description: The Software & Hardware Technologies Roundtable focuses on each member using their background and experience to help each other out. At each Roundtable, each member starts with questions they have for their peers on any topic and then sharing the “Good”, the “Bad” and the “Ugly” from the last month. This group isn’t shy about offering advice and is great about following up. The group at times invites guests to speak about agreed upon topics.

This is a good roundtable to join if you want to be able to leave each session with at least one nugget of value that you can bring to your business.

Description: The Fast Growing Roundtable focuses on the issues that are most important to tech companies whose products have already made traction. Typically roundtable members are operating in a fast growing market with many moving pieces. Topics are predominantly focused around strategy, growth, HR, financial & operational metrics, sales & marketing, funding and the other many (many) challenges faced in a fast growing business. Members of the Roundtable are all given the opportunity to share current issues and ask advice from the group. This is a group where ego is left at the door and equal time is spent learning from member’s successes and failures. New members will find relief in the realization that their problems are usually familiar to the group, and that they can learn from the scars of others who have tackled it firsthand. When appropriate, 3rd party experts may be invited to lend perspective.

This is a good roundtable to join if you run a fast moving, tech company that is trying to disrupt or define a market by changing the way people do things. This is also a good roundtable to join if you are in a more established market but are interested in exposure to these markets and keeping pace with the ever increasing pace of a fast moving business. Description: The North Roundtable focuses on getting to know each other’s businesses well enough that the CEOs can provide valuable advice and commentary. Discussions are typically around business guidance and support. Meetings rotate between discussing a chosen topic and participants providing updates to the group to receive feedback. Conversations are lively and draw on the career experiences of all members. The group is not shy about offering critical advice and is good at following up. On occasion, an outside speaker will be invited.

This is a good roundtable to join if you find value in learning from your peers, you are comfortable occasionally having your assumptions challenged and debated and you like helping your peers by offering insights from similar experiences.
